As governments and other public institutions across Canada respond to calls for reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) is providing its support to this important national challenge with a National Year of Dialogue for Reconciliation and Renewed Relationships.

At the heart of IPAC’s mandate for 70 years is the idea that good government depends on strong working relationships between government administrations, ongoing dialogue, and shared knowledge and experience. Now, IPAC brings its pan-Canadian network of regional chapters, academic, and private sector partners as a platform to support renewed relationships with First Nation, Metis and Inuit governments and organizations.

Throughout 2017, a series of regional and national dialogues is bringing public sector administrators and officials together with administrators and leaders of Indigenous governments and organizations to discuss shared challenges. These events create opportunities to learn from each other, to talk about what renewed relationships could mean, and to establish new networks and working relationships.

Almost all events are open to the public. Some may be webcast and others may be recorded and posted on this site at a later date. Click on a specific event for details and check back for updates and new events listings! Event information is presented in the official language of its hosts.

Start your own dialogue

海豚加速器破解版手机

We challenge public servants at all levels and in all public sector professions and students of public policy and administration – Indigenous and non-Indigenous together – to host your own dialogue or learning event in support of reconciliation and renewed relationships. All it takes is a topic, a space and a few willing participants. Then share your discussion and reflections at #IPACReconciliationIAPC

How can the public administration community transform itself to be better partners in the relationship?

Here are some suggested questions to focus on:

Where do we already have examples of reconciliation and good relationships and what can we learn from them?

What do First Nation, Metis and Inuit governments and organizations need and expect from public sector colleagues so they can achieve excellence in policy, program and service delivery to their citizens and members?

Sponsorship & Engagement Opportunities

Your contributions will help us reach more remote audiences in Canada through webcasting and video production, support travel for speakers and participants, support greater involvement of students and new public servants, and create learning content for workplaces and universities.

All partners have their branding included in promotional material for the National and selected Regional events and publications, among other benefits. Financial contributions can also be combined with in-kind contributions.

IPAC welcomes partners who want to help make renewed relationships in Canada a reality.
