The ‘Dreamers’ Have No Right to Demand Anything
Nearly 200 protesters were arrested on the steps of the Capitol at a rally in December. -- The occasion? Thousands had gathered there to demand that Congress pass “Dream Act” legislation to protect from deportation young “undocumented” immigrants brought to this country by their illegal-alien parents. -- Many of those who took part in that demonstration --- as well as in an encampment on the National Mall and in a series of sit-ins in congressional offices --- are themselves these so-called “Dreamers,” who would be the beneficiaries of the legislation they’re demanding Congress enact.......

Meadows Draws Line in Sand: No DACA Amnesty in Spending Bill
Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, on Tuesday said there should be no Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty deal contained within the government funding bill coming up in January. -- The important move by Meadows aims to take government shutdown leverage away from Democrats in the upcoming DACA battles --- something that President Donald Trump alluded to on Tuesday morning on Twitter when he bashed Democrats for not being serious about DACA solutions.......

Trump's Prioritizing DACA Illegal Aliens Breaks with 'No Amnesty' Commitment
President Trump's seeming prioritization of nearly 800,000 illegal aliens shielded from deportation under former President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program breaks a long-held commitment by the populist leader to put American citizens first in every decision. -- As Breitbart News reported, Trump posted to Twitter on Tuesday that the open borders activists behind recent protests demanding DACA amnesty will begin “falling in love” with himself and Republicans, hinting that he is interested in a deal to begin giving illegal aliens a pathway to U.S. citizenship.......

Poll: Voters Show Massive Support for Trump Immigration Policies
A poll of likely 2018 voters shows two-to-one support for President Donald Trump's pro-American immigration policies, and a lopsided four-to-one opposition against the cheap-labor, mass-immigration, economic policy pushed by bipartisan establishment-backed D.C. interest-groups. -- The poll for NumbersUSA is another reminder to politicians that the business-funded ‘Nation of Immigrants” polls distract attention from voters' private views, which were shockingly displayed on the evening of November 8, 2016.......

Mexicans in U.S. send cash home in record numbers
Mexicans living abroad sent cash home in record numbers last year. The vast majority of the cash came from those living in the United States. -- Two main forces drove the trend: Mexico's weak currency, the peso, and President Trump's threat to slap a tax on cash shipments, known as remittances, sent from the U.S. to Mexico. -- Mexicans sent home $26.1 billion from January to November 2017, according to figures released Tuesday by the central bank of Mexico. That's the most ever recorded and better than the $24.1 billion sent in 2016 over the same period.......

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador can be a catastrophe for Mexico
The course of American-Mexican relations never has run particularly smooth. There was the Mexican-American war in the mid-19th century, of course, and there's always the inherent tension with one big, rich country to the north sharing a lengthy border with a poor, perennially corrupt and struggling nation to the south. “Poor ,” goes one ancient lament south of the border, “so far from God, so close to the United States.” -- Donald Trump courted controversy by charging in his presidential run in the summer of 2015 that the Mexican government was sending its “undesirables” across that border into the United States.......

13 drones in four days: How drug smugglers are using technology to beat Border Patrol
Border Patrol agents are increasingly worried about the threat from drug-cartel-flown drones, after agents spotted 13 drones suspected of carrying drugs across one section of the U.S.-Mexico border in just one four-day period in November. -- Cartels are aware that the U.S. lacks the ability to detect the drones, much less to interdict them, making them a choice method for smuggling high-dollar hard drugs into the country, agents said. -- They said the fact that they even spotted the 13 drones was serendipitous and only hints at the scope of the real problem......

Numbers favor Trump's proposals for illegal immigration crackdown
Critics of President Donald Trump's various proposals to crack down on illegal immigration say there is little need to do so. The number of people coming into our country illegally has dropped dramatically, they say. -- For a time, that may have been true. It is not, now. -- Judging by the number of people immigration agents catch crossing the border illegally, the problem is growing. “Denial of entry” stops along the U.S.-Mexico border in November totaled 39,006 --- twice the number in April.......

Dave Gorak: 'Chain migration' policy irresponsible and dangerous
In his Dec. 22 column, Paul Fanlund incorrectly says the recently attempted suicide bombing in New York City's subway system is not related to the current debate on immigration reform. The would-be bomber in fact entered this country on a visa that is part of our irresponsible and dangerous "chain migration" policy that President Trump wants to end. Chain migration goes well beyond the nuclear family, i.e. parents and their minor children. It also is the reason that since 2015 immigration has accounted for nearly 90 percent of our population growth that is projected to last through 2065 at our current levels, according to Pew Hispanic Center.......

Complaint sheds light on man who fled from, shot at BP
A criminal complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in Tucson reveals the chain of events that led to a car wreck in Green Valley after a man tried to flee from a Border Patrol checkpoint. -- According to the complaint, the incident began when a 2005 black Ford Escape with Arizona license plates approached the checkpoint on Dec. 24. -- A Border Patrol agent conducting vehicle inspections “noticed the driver's hands were shaking tremendously as he was holding a cigarette,” the complaint says.
